ERS Library and Portal Presentations

An ERS Library staff member will visit your site to provide training that highlights all of the resources and services our contracting schools receive. If your staff has devices available, this session will also include a hands-on experience logging into the ERSportal, using the online media, and, for our full-service ERS Library Media Services contract clients, practice browsing and reserving materials in the Follett Destiny online catalog. This presentation takes approximately one hour.

For more information or to set up training at your site, contact Nathan Wills at nathan.wills@tcoe.org or (559) 651-3031.

Learning Resource Display Center (LRDC) – Textbook Adoption

Educational Resource Services hosts the Learning Resources Display Center (LRDC) for Tulare County, one of approximately 20 in the state. Textbooks for all subject areas, grades K-8, that are under review or have been adopted by the State Board of Education are housed here for the public to view and evaluate. ERS Educational Consultants can assist teachers and administrators with their textbook selection and purchasing questions. During textbook adoption years, ERS holds a special day to introduce the latest state textbook adoption to teachers and other school staff.

Location and Hours
The LRDC is located at Educational Resource Services, 7000 Doe Avenue, Suite A in Visalia. Materials may be viewed without appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. For large groups, advance notification is appreciated.

ERS Library & Multimedia Center Contracts

ERS Library and Multimedia Center Contracts A full service ERS Library Media Services contract allows educators unlimited access to the ERS Portal and Kids/Teen Portals, as well as the ability to borrow from a circulating collection of 28,000+ books (in English and Spanish), book kits, STEM kits, robotics, puppets, DVDs, source documents, sound recordings, art prints, and professional development materials. These materials can be reserved online via the Follett Destiny Online Catalog and, in most cases, will be delivered to your site by our library staff. Our ERS Library Media Supervisor acts as the Librarian of Record for districts/sites without a professional librarian (as per state regulation compliance), provides consultant services relative to the selection and implementation of technology, instructional materials, development of library programs, library facility planning, and assists in the training of library personnel. Finally, staff from contracting schools may also visit our Teacher Resource Center where they can print posters, laminate materials, make copies, and use our collection of 1,000+ die-cuts at a reduced fee.

An ERS Portal contract includes online access to the ERS Library and Multimedia Portal and Kids/Teen Portal along with a one-hour, on-site training detailing how to best incorporate these resources into classroom learning.

Both of the above contracts include a standing invitation for the contracting site’s library personnel to attend Library Multimedia Network (LMN) meetings developed especially for school library staff. These meetings are held every other month at the Doe Avenue Complex and are filled with ideas and practical suggestions for best practices in developing future-ready school libraries.

For more information, contact Sara Torabi by e-mail at sara.torabi@tcoe.org or by phone at (559) 651-3031.
