Looking toward the Future: TCOE programs prepare for graduations

TCOE Graduations 2012 Dozens of students from Tulare County Office of Education programs are preparing for graduation this month, or in early June. University Preparatory High School (UPHS), the public charter school opened on the College of the Sequoias campus in 2009, will graduate its first class of students May 29. "We are proud of the success University Prep has had over the past three years in preparing students for success in college," says Tulare County Superintendents of Schools Jim Vidak. "We look forward to celebrating this milestone for UPHS along with the graduations from La Sierra Military Academy and our Special Services programs!"

Students in Special Service's programs for the severely handicapped and those in the Community Based Instruction (CBI) classes will also graduate. For the past five years, these 21-year-old students have been gaining skills that will help them prepare for adult life, including - for some - vocational skills that will be useful in finding employment.
