College Night at Visalia Convention Center
Tuesday, September 15

Tulare County College Night Representatives from nearly 100 universities and colleges will be on-hand at the 34th Annual Tulare County College Night to answer questions about entrance requirements, available degrees and tuition at their institutions. College Night, which will be held at the Visalia Convention Center Tuesday, September 15, is designed for high school students and parents who want to learn more about preparing for and applying to colleges

In addition to the college representatives, students and parents can visit two sessions of informational presentations (beginning at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.) on topics ranging from how to write an effective college essay and prerequisite courses to financial aid and athletic recruitment. One presentation on financial aid and educational planning will be offered in Spanish. Students will also be able to pick up instructions on applying for the annual Tulare County College Night Scholarship, which provides one student $1,000 per year for up to four years, based on academic and personal accomplishments.

Tulare County College Night Now celebrating its 34th anniversary, College Night is coordinated by the Tulare County Office of Education, but generously supported by numerous local service clubs, businesses and high schools. Community support not only helps with the cost of the event, but supports the College Night Scholarship fund. "The College Night committee does an outstanding job of bringing higher education resources to thousands of Tulare County students each year," says Tulare County Superintendent of Schools Jim Vidak. "The event is a great collaboration between parent volunteers, teachers, college representatives and community supporters."
