Expanding Your Horizons 2016

Conference for young women to be held Saturday, November 5

Expanding Your Horizons

Expanding Your HorizonsRegistration for the popular Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference remains open through October 14. Hundreds of young women are expected to attend EYH on Saturday, November 5, at the Visalia campus of College of the Sequoias (COS). The student event is designed to encourage young women in grades 4 through 10 to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The conference showcases math- and science-related fields in interesting, hands-on ways. It also helps young women form personal contacts with women working in professions traditionally held by men.

The conference, which begins with registration at 8:00 a.m., features three breakout sessions and a special keynote presentation by a woman working in a STEM field. Throughout the day, attendees may choose from dozens of presentations conducted by women working in engineering, medical and science professions. The sessions are fun, hands-on presentations covering topics ranging from engineering a bridge and robotics to rocket propulsion, anatomy and more.

For registration information, visit tcoe.org/EYH. For event specifics, contact Paula Terrill of Tulare County Office of Educationís Educational Resource Services at paulat@ers.tcoe.org or call (559) 651-0565.
