More Opportunity for Viable Employment
MOVE is a voluntary program that assists families to relocate to areas in the United States where job opportunities are plentiful. To qualify participants must be recipients of CalWORKS benefits and eligible for employment services through Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency. Qualified participants meet with a MOVE job developer for services and information about their destination including:
- Job search assistance via internet, email, telephone, and fax
- Cost of living, budgeting, and goal setting
- Rental housing costs, availability
- Schools, childcare resources
- Weather, crime statistics, recreation
- Community resources (medical, WIC, HUD, employment agencies, etc.)
- Packing and moving tips, checklists
- Financial assistance to help pay moving truck and transportation, and other relocation expenses
Participants maintain contact with MOVE job developers for a minimum of six months after arrival at their destination to ensure job placement and a successful transition. SEE has contracted with Tulare County Health & Human Services agency since October 1998 for MOVE Program services, and has successfully relocated over 1100 participants and their families.
