Mental Wellness Triage Grant
In 2018, the Mental Wellness Triage Grant (MWTG) was awarded to Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) in partnership with the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA). The grant is funded by the Mental Health Services Oversight & Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) of the state of California for four years (2018-2022). MWTG is currently providing mental health support to students in grades TK-12 at 24 school districts throughout Tulare County.
Mental Health Student Services Act Grant
In September 2020, the MHSOAC awarded a Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) grant to Tulare County Office of Education and Tulare County Department of Mental Health to provide additional mental health services in districts across Tulare County by expanding upon the Triage Grant program. The grant is another four-year grant (2020-2024) and will be used to place Triage Social Workers at an additional 16 school sites in districts across Tulare County.
A dedicated team of triage social workers are assigned to each school site once a week to provide various support, including interim counseling, classroom support, crisis support, SARB, SST support, family outreach, and community linkage. Active in community outreach, we also provide free mental wellness training to parents, teachers, students, and the community. Our Triage Social Workers and Peer Support Specialists have completed training in Mindful Schools Essentials and Fundamentals, and are ready to provide Mindfulness training in the classroom and the community.
