The Tulare County CHARACTER COUNTS! office has been supporting local schools for over 25 years with the tools to develop and sustain ongoing character education programs on campus. The program offers proven practices to help schools create cultures of kindness through lesson plans, campus-wide messaging, parent engagement, student recognition programs, and sportsmanship. Additionally, the program advocates for the importance character education through its annual CHARACTER COUNTS Week celebration in partnership with the Visalia Times-Delta and its Your Character Matters partnership with KSEE24 TV. The CHOICES Prevention / Intervention Education program supports student health and well-being through a variety of programs, including alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention education, youth development/leadership training, and student mental health. The CHOICES Prevention / Intervention Education staff is composed of trained facilitators and specialists who deliver evidence-based programs to students as well as provide professional learning trainings throughout Tulare County.
