Public Works – DIR
What is Public Works?
Public works projects include:
- Construction, reconstruction, erection, alteration, renovation, improvement, demolition, and repair work involving any publicly owned, leased, or operated facility, and
- painting or repainting involving any publicly owned, leased, or operated facility.
- $15,000 for Districts which have not adopted Uniform Cost Accounting
- $75,000 for Districts which have adopted Uniform Cost Accounting
Districts which have adopted Uniform Cost Accounting may informally bid projects between $75,000 and $220,000.
DIR Project Registration
Public agencies are no longer required to contract with DIR-registered contractors for:
- Public works projects of $25,000 or less; or
- Maintenance projects of $15,000 or less.
Public agencies are given more flexibility in providing notice to DIR regarding new projects.
