The County Committee on School District Organization has a major role in the review and approval of proposals for school district unifications, changes to school district boundaries, transfers of territory from one school district to another in Tulare County, and the change to trustee area-based elections within Tulare County school districts.
The committee is comprised of 11 members, two from each county supervisorial district, and one member at large. The term of office of each member is four years. Any registered voter residing in the appropriate supervisorial district may serve as a county committee member. Members of school district governing boards may serve concurrently as a school district trustee and county committee member. No county superintendent of schools, employee of the office of a county superintendent of schools, employee of a school district, or employee of a community college district shall be a member of the county committee.
