What is a community school?
"A community school is any school serving pre-Kindergarten through high school students using a “whole-child” approach, with “an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement.” As a school improvement strategy, community school initiatives enable the local education agency (LEA) and school to work closely with educators, students, and families to understand and address the unique needs, assets, and aspirations of the school community."

The TCOE Community Schools Team envisions a future where every school serves as the hub of its community, practicing collaborative leadership through family and community engagement, caring for the whole-student, and providing meaningful learning opportunities.
Mission
The TCOE Community Schools Team mission is to grow and empower school and district teams to create meaningful learning opportunities for all students. This is achieved by communicating with care, building trusting relationships, and providing quality support.

Community Schools Community of Transformative Practice (CoTP)

This CoTP meeting (1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) is designed to offer support to LEAs and sites interested in community schools work, as well as technical assistance to CCSPP grantees. Each CoTP meeting will be followed by optional networking time (3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.).
